Phi Beta Sigma Capture the Flag

On Saturday, February 11, Phi Beta Sigma fraternity hosted a Capture the Flag tournament for sororities. All proceeds raised benefitted the March of Dimes, a foundation that raises money to prevent premature births and treat premature babies. Ten Pi Phi members sacrificed sleeping in on a Saturday to participate at 9:00 in the morning in 25 degree weather, because they were so excited to help out another Greek organization. It was a great way to get involved with Phi Beta Sigma and raise awareness about premature births!

Alpha Delta Pi Blend-Off

Both of the Pi Phi teams at Blend-Off

On Wednesday, February 15th, Pi Phi participated in Alpha Delta Pi's annual philanthropy, Blend-Off. The proceeds from the Mardi Gras-themed Blend-Off benefitted the Ronald McDonald House, and we were excited to have not just one, but two teams participating! Each team had to design a custom mock-tail to be judged based on taste, creativity, and theme. One team created a drink with ginger ale, lime, cranberry juice, and grenadine, while the other mixed up some chocolate and white chocolate milkshakes. One girl also competed in Mardi Gras Queen, a competition involving trivia questions about Alpha Delta Pi and the Ronald McDonald House. Around forty girls from our chapter came to support ADPi, and overall, everyone had a great time participating in Blend-Off!

Pi Party!

On Wednesday, February 8, the Texas Delta girls had their biannual Pi Party in the Pi Phi house! Each girl with a fall semester GPA over 3.14 was invited to a night of pizza pies and bakery pies to celebrate and be recognized. This year, we had a record number of 111 girls invited to Pi Party. Our fall chapter average GPA was a great 3.271, and Pi Phi finished as the third highest chapter GPA out of all the sororities! Everyone is excited we had such a great semester and is looking to do even better this spring!

Spotlight on Exec

Name: Windsor Zweifel

Exec Position: VP Fraternity Development

What your position does: I work with all things pertaining to ritual, traditions, and ceremonies of Pi Beta Phi. I also manage and update the chapter's Archives. Lastly, I educate the chapter about the meaning behind all our ritual, symbols, and songs. This is a really special opportunity for me to give back to Pi Beta Phi as an organization. I find it so gratifying and inspiring to instill in the chapter the beliefs and dreams of our founders, with the hopes that each member will be inspired and realize their own individual ability to conquer their dreams.

Hometown: sunny Scottsdale, Arizona

Major/minor: BSN-Nursing major

Career Goal: I want to become a specialized nurse and work in one of the country's top neonatal intensive care units (NICU'S). I would also like to become a traveling nurse.

Clubs/Activities: I love to draw and paint, listen to music, and hang out with all my family and friends.

Fun Fact: My favorite color is yellow!

Why you love Pi Phi: I love Pi Beta Phi because of all the opportunities and gifts it has presented to me. Pi Phi has given me some of my most cherished moments, memories, and friendships while i have attended TCU. Without Pi Beta Phi i wouldn't have met some of my closets pals, had quite as much fun, or be the person I am today. Most importantly, I love Pi Beta Phi because this organization has not only guided me to becoming a woman of integrity, honor, and character, but it has also inspired me to always believe in myself. It's truly amazing to think nearly a century and a half ago twelve young women dared to dream, and having done so, gave life to Pi Beta Phi, and it is this extension of their dream that has united not only my chapter but all the other chapters around the country too.

Boys and Girls Club Dodgeball Tournament

On Saturday, February 4, a team of 8 Pi Phi members participated in the Fort Worth Boys and Girls Club Dodgeball Tournament. All of the proceeds raised went toward funds and activities at the Boys and Girls Club, and our chapter was so excited to be involved! The girls sacrificed sleeping in on a Saturday, instead checking in to the Fort Worth Martin Branch at 9:00 in the morning to raise money and awareness for the Boys and Girls Club! Our team of 8 girls was a mixture of freshmen and upperclassmen, and they enjoyed getting outside of TCU to help out in the Fort Worth community, while getting to know their sisters better.

We take dodgeball seriously!

Welcome Back!

Hello everyone!

Everyone at the Texas Delta chapter of Pi Beta Phi is so excited to bring back our blog! We have a lot of things going on here at Texas Christian University and the Fort Worth community, and we want to you to be right in on all the action. This semester, we are looking forward to some big events, such as Moms Weekend, Spring Formal, and Fraternity Day of Service. Recruitment workshops will be starting up soon, and teams of excited girls have been lining up to participate in other Greek philanthropies. Last semester, our chapter moved up in grades among the Panhellenic sororities, and we have plenty of community service opportunities coming up as well.

2012 is looking to be a great year for us, so check back here often for updates on our Fort Worth Angels!
